\nIn sunny Hawaii, trees offer refreshing coolness, they cool down entire neighborhoods, they reduce or eliminate the need for air conditioning, bringing Hawaii closer to 100% clean energy; they invite people to the healthy outdoors; they absorb carbon dioxide--the prime climate change gas; they provide habitat for birds and wildlife; they raise property values and provide stately beauty.  Yet Honolulu is losing tree canopy while temperatures are rising and heat islands are becoming more pervasive.  Mr. Dinell, president of Trees for Honolulu's Future, a nonprofit focused on bringing attention to our urban forests, explores green solutions to cooling down our hottest areas.
