\nCPAC 2023 was Trump's national campaign moment. For two hours, Trump reminded his loyal MAGA followers that grievance is the GOP political platform (as it was in 2016 and 2020). He threw off former GOP leaders, Paul Ryan, Karl Rove, and Florida's Jeb Bush. He promised his leadership will make America great again (again and again). The jaw dropping moment was a video in which the singing voices of imprisoned Jan 6 inmates belted out the National Anthem (presumably recorded on prison pay phones) while Trump is heard reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Additionally, Trump's promise to be the president of retribution was a further step down into the basement of Trump's deplorable behavior. The panel examines the CPAC event.
