\nDr. Joshua Jacobs helps us understand his journey from academia to the business of medicine. After standing up the new medical school in Washington State, he joined United Health Group (a subsidiary of Optum) to support educating the 60,000 doctors who provide care to patients in the many Optum health systems across the country. He's been in that role for about a year and has been involved in the response to COVID and the changing business of medicine: risk adjustment, quality metrics, and affordability / utilization management.
