\nThe extinction of species is one of the most compelling problems of our times. The loss of the world's biodiversity negatively impacts human quality of life, cultural heritage, economic growth, the availability of clean drinking water and the potential for scientific discoveries. These are just a few examples of how our world changes when organisms vanish from the earth. Hunter Craft has been working on the front lines of this extinction crisis for the last two years with the Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project, an organization dedicated to saving some of the world's rarest birds in one of the world's most beautiful places. Instead of being a career field biologist, Hunter originally trained as an anthropologist. It is this background that Hunter is so excited to discuss this with us today. Guest Hunter Craft believes that creativity is a key component of tackling such large and difficult problems as extinction. Creativity must draw inspiration from different places and traditions.
