\nPutin is playing a high stakes game of chicken with the USA and NATO nations. With over 100,000 Russian troops poised on three sides of Ukraine's borders, it appears an invasion is immediate. Once again, the west is reminded of Russia's dream for the return of the Soviet states, which never went away after the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the Soviet nation. Diplomatic talks occurred this week in attempts to avoid a military conflict with Russia. Warnings of severe economic sanctions against Russia have been delivered to Putin. The specifics of those sanctions are not clear. Putin remains steadfast that Ukraine shall never become a NATO nation. That position is a deal breaker for the west. How this conflict gets resolved remains unanswered.
