\nAre we using the right metrics when evaluating energy system value?  This discussion covers a different way of looking at the value of an energy system. It may be better to evaluate the overall value proposition of the system--ie, Services Provided--rather than keying on a single aspect like a system's overall efficiency.  Efficiency might not matter.  The energy service provided may be more important or have more value to the end user.  The end user may be willing to sacrifice efficiency and cost to get the value of the service the system provides.  The Parable of the Lightbulb.
