Having a 'Can Do' Attitude

Published: Feb. 13, 2021, 5 a.m.

After a long and successful career as a teacher, administrator, and coach, Tom decided to combine these skills as the owner of Daniels/Dworkin Tutors. Preparing students for standardized tests begin with the challenge of creating a comfort zone that allows the students to gain confidence in their abilities erasing the anxiety that is inherent in test-taking. Just as an athletic coach convinces the players that what they are undertaking can be done by pushing them past any imagined limits, Tom instills in his students this same “can do” attitude. Tom subscribes to this definition of practice: practice is convincing yourself that you can do things that you previously thought could not be done. Tom’s business card touts himself as tutor and owner “extraordinaire.” He has thousands of students to back up this boast.
