Part 1 Pre Podcast Ideation
What do you want to share? What are you an expert in (Or close to it)- and who is your audience.
How do you want to share it? Audio, audio and video?
Come up with a Name- It can be anything but for search engine optimization if what you’re doing is with the name it may help but not required.
Create a show format. Use a notes program, storyboard. notebook pen and paper, whatever. ARE you going to interview people, and how will they connect remotely? This will all be part of the deciding factor as to what type of equipment you will need.
Your format will change but you will want to stick to your format at least for the first few episodes. Set a timelines. Example: Mon: write up the notes, Tue: record, WED: edit. Whatever works for what you are trying to accomplish, but you need to get a schedule and hold yourself to it. You will thank yourself later you did.
As your podcast grows, episode titling and organization will be key. Look how some others title their episodes. Their will be a lot of editing and files around your podcast. Are you going to start with episode 1, 101 or 23455? This is up to you, but be consistent as this will get unmanageable real fast if you are not organized out of the gate. It will also save time later.
Choose your release dates and stick to it. Consistency is key here. Example: Friday at midnight, or every MON WED and FRI at 2pm. Etc.
Focus on content first, audio and video second( but it still matters)
Focus on a Niche. If you are going to talk about Psychology, then talk about a specific field or issue like child psychology. Better yet go deep and talk about Child Psychology as it related to schools and COVID-19.
Podcasts can be about whatever you want. If you find an audience they will keep coming back for you and your content.
