The Myth of Intelligence and Intelligence Testing

There is no real thing called intelligence that can actually be measured although people do differ in the skills that they excercise in varying situations. After years of struggling to define just what intellience might be many\xa0psychologists gave up and decided that "intelligence is whatever the test tests!" However, most professionals and laypersons continue to believe that Intelligence tests measure some actual quality of the mind and that it can\xa0predict\xa0how a person will be able to learn in many,\xa0if not all situations. Moreover, it is claimed\xa0that the test is socially unbiased and results are independent of both whoever administers the test and the conditions under which it is administered. Many lives have been damaged by the continued acceptance\xa0of these incorrect assumptions.\n\n\n\tPsycho"therapy and the Stories We Live By\n\n\n\tAmazon.com, BN.com\xa0\n\n\n\tstore.bookbaby.com/book/psychotherapy-and-the-stories-we-live-by
