Todays' story follows from my earlier discussion on how evolution has shaped many of our desires and motives and how \xa0we are often unaware we are acting to advance our personal and group interests. Psychoanalysis also has at its heart the idea that our intentions are often outside of our awareness and that much of human misery is created when we act without knowing our true hearts desire. Good psycho"therapy," and many practiotioners pf psychoanalysis are good psycho"therapists, has at its goal helping people increase their understanding of the motivations of themselves and others. When the process of self-understanding is successful we are then more capable of being more responsible, loving, and creative citizens. In the end we live much differently when we can be our own good psycho"therapist."
