Mental Hindrances to Self-Discipline

Buddhism teaches five mental hindrances to self-discipline: giving in to the five senses, animosity and malice, apathy and laziness, anxiety and remorse, and hesitation and doubt. The common thread is that they all require immediate and urgent attention, even if it is fabricated urgency.
