Warren Buffett hopes next year's annual letter has a Christmas picture with the same 25 head-office employees as this year's picture and the year before's picture. In response to a question about whether the company needs to hire a more diverse group of employees and directors, Buffett said no, he doesn't hire for diversity. He looks for three qualities: people who are business-savvy, are shareholder-oriented and who have a special personal interest in Berkshire. In 2013 Berkshire ranked last among companies in the S&P 100 on a survey of diversity published by activist investor Calvert Investments.

The Nebraska Peace Foundation, which owns one class A share of Berkshire, succeed in putting to a vote a motion requiring the company to compile a report on the risks to its insurance subsidiaries posed by climate change.
