In 1917, a curious discovery was made within an ancient cave on the island of Malta: several unusual teeth that did not appear to belong to modern humans. However, this could only mean that our ancient cousins, the Neanderthals, had been there much earlier than it was previously believed any type of humans had ever arrived in Malta. Could this mean our current understanding of the island's history is wrong?\xa0
Anthropologists have long recognized that the last Neanderthals likely disappeared from Europe around 28,000-30,000 years ago. However, tantalizing references from ancient traditions throughout the world might suggest otherwise. This week on\xa0The Micah Hanks Program, we look at folklore and history from around the world that could suggest one or more unknown humanlike species, known by scientists as "relict hominoids," could still be living in modern times.\xa0
