A chap at the door

Mercy Baguma was a refugee seeking asylum in Glasgow who had no recourse to public funds. She was utterly reliant on support from friends and charities. Mercy was found dead next to her starving wee boy on Saturday.

We make no apologies for beginning this week's podcast with our thoughts on this tragedy.

This morning's breaking news was that the Scottish government has withdrawn, as defender, from the Section 30 People's Action court case.

We do our level best to navigate the legal waters to try and find out exactly what this means and figure out if, as Andrew Tickell has suggested, this is good money being thrown at a bad case.

An unholy alliance of Gove,Galloway, and Andrew Neil have been floating the idea that the franchise for any new independence referendum should be extended to all native born Scots on the UK electoral register.

We question why this now, look at why the legitimacy of any such referendums is vital, what legal precedents exist for such a widening of the vote .

Wild claims have been made that Boris Johnson was hounded out of his holiday cottage by a baying mob of Scottish nationalists egged on by that noted populist firebrand Ian Blackford- we see you Neil Oliver. Lesley sets the record straight.

Jean Freeman and Alex Neil have announced that they won't be standing for re-election in 2021. Is this simply a case of retiral after putting in good shifts or is it a sign of discord and disquiet in the SNP?

We end on a musical note with the ban on music in pubs and restaurants and the singing of the lyrics of Rule Britannia at the Last Night of the Proms.

All this plus a mysterious chap at the door interlude.
