Ashmore Estates was built in 1916 as a poor farm in Ashmore, Illinois, and later became a psychiatric hospital. It closed its doors in the late 80s and became a popular spot for people to sneak in and vandalize

\nAt some point, someone wrote on the walls by the front entryway, \u201cThese walls can talk, open your mind and listen.\u201d It\u2019s the one piece of graffiti that the owner, Robbin Terry, didn\u2019t cover up. It perfectly described the building. Ashmore Estates might seem empty, but there is a lot of activity within its walls. Just sit and listen\u2026and the spirits will come to you. \xa0
