Welcome back to an exciting edition of The Global Energy Leaders Podcast. Today’s featured guest, Alex Epstein, is the author of The Moral Case for Fossil Fuels and the founder of the Center for Industrial Progress.  In life when we think about the choices we make, it's natural to always look forward. It’s human nature to want to know what might occur if we make a particular decision. Over the last twenty plus years it seems that almost every special interest group has focused every study and question towards the energy sector.

Because of the advances in technology and industry that fossil fuels have brought to the table, it is not a matter of “could” but a matter of “fact” that our future will be cleaner, stronger, faster and more capable. So why does every study you hear state the opposite. Let the expert, Alex Epstein, fill you in on this week's episode.
Guest:
Alex Epstein is a philosopher who applies big-picture, humanistic thinking to industrial and environmental controversies. In 2011, he founded the Center for Industrial Progress (CIP), a for-profit think-tank and communications consulting firm focused on energy and environmental  issues.
In 2014, Epstein wrote “The Moral Case for Fossil Fuels,” which has been widely praised as the most persuasive argument made for the use of coal, oil, and natural gas. It became a New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-seller and earned him the 2014 “Most Original Thinker” award by The McLaughlin Group.
Epstein’s greatest strength is persuading those with an undecided opinion about fossil fuels. He writes to the public in a regular Forbes column and has been published in hundreds of publications, including The Wall Street Journal. Epstein has guest lectured at dozens of universities, including Harvard, Yale, Stanford and Duke, and has used his philosophical approach of reframing issues to influence the thinking of thousands of students. He teaches his method of persuasion and constructive conversation to energy-association members and company executives and employees in the form of speeches, consulting, and training courses, including his latest course, “How to Talk to Anyone about Energy.”
Epstein believes that if the industry reframes the morality of energy as an issue not of minimizing human impact but of maximizing human flourishing, it can become a confident champion for energy and freedom.
