Tyrion plies Janos Slynt, the new Lord of Harrenhal, with wine over a lavish dinner. The commander of the City Watch is quite drunk by the time Tyrion turns the tables and announces Slynt\u2019s new career as a member of the Night\u2019s Watch. The new head of the Gold Cloaks, Jacelyn Bywater, has his former boss escorted to a waiting ship and onward to the Wall.\xa0
Lord Varys admires Tyrion\u2019s stratagems but the Hand is annoyed that the all-knowing Spider failed to protect baby Barra and her mother from murder at the hand of Slynt\u2019s brutal henchmen. Varys apologizes, but claims he did get Gendry out of the city when he saw what Cersei had planned for Robert\u2019s progeny. The men discuss Cersei\u2019s cruelty and the riddle of where power truly resides.\xa0
After Varys departs, Bronn confirms that he\u2019s recruiting worthy new men to Tyrion\u2019s service, and with the Gold Cloak\u2019s now led by Tyrion\u2019s man Bywater, his position in King\u2019s Landing should be secure.\xa0
