With the definitive dating of the "human" footprints at White Sands pushing back\nthe earliest human occupation of North America to 21,000 to 23,000 years BP, we\ndecided to take a look at several well known pre-Clovis sites. These sites are\noften controversial and heavily debated amongst archaeologists. We'll discuss\nthe findings from each site, why they are controversial, and what we think. In\nPart 1 we cover four of the youngest pre-Clovis Sites including, Paisley Cave in\nOregon, Monte Verde in Chile, Gault in Texas and Topper in South Carolina.\nLinks\n * Explore Pre-Clovis Sites (Old, but holds up!)\n [https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/ancient/explore-pre-clovis-sites.html]\n * Pre-Clovis Sites [https://www.thoughtco.com/pre-clovis-sites-americas-173079]\n * A Life in Ruins Episode 77 [https://archpodnet.com/ruins/77]\n * Paisley Caves [https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/sciadv.aba6404]\n * Monte Verde (Wiki) [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monte_Verde]\n * New Archaeological Evidence for an Early Human Presence at Monte Verde, Chile\n [https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4651426/]\n * Gault, TX [http://www.texasbeyondhistory.net/gault/index.html]\n * Evidence of an early projectile point technology in North America at the\n Gault Site, Texas, US [https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/sciadv.aar5954]A\n * Topper Site\n [https://sc.edu/about/system_and_campuses/salkehatchie/community/topper_site/index.php]\n\nContact\n * Chris Webster\n * chris@archaeologypodcastnetwork.com\n\nArchPodNet\n * APN Website: https://www.archpodnet.com [https://www.archpodnet.com/]\n * APN on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/archpodnet\n * APN on Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/archpodnet\n * APN on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/archpodnet\n * Tee Public Store\n [https://www.teepublic.com/stores/archaeology-podcast-network?ref_id=5724]\n\nAffiliates\n * Wildnote [http://www.wildnoteapp.com/]\n * TeePublic [https://www.teepublic.com/?ref_id=5724&ref_type=aff]\n * Timeular [https://timeular.com/ref/chriswebster/]
