After losing a baseball tournament, the young artist took to freestyling as a coping mechanism to release tension. It was the beginning of a new passion for creating music. He began street event promotions for Money by Da Pound during his high school years. He later garnered the attention of Hunter Promotions. As a street team promoter for the company, Skool Boy experienced his first taste of fame, rubbing shoulders with artists like Gucci Mane, Young Jeezy, Plies, Soulja Boy, Franchise Boyz and Roscoe Dash. Hunter Promotions later helped Skool Boy release his first song titled \u201cRide Swerve\u201d at age 18.
