Teachers in Transition - Episode 101 - What to Consider When Writing a Resume

Published: March 4, 2021, 5 a.m.

In this week's episode, Kitty reflects on two interactions she had with teachers who are changing jobs. The first individual was still struggling with what he wanted to do next in his career, and the second individual had shared a resume that came through email as a jumble instead of a formatted resume.

There are two take-aways from this episode. If you want to change your job or career, before you start writing your resume, you need to spend time thinking deeply about what it is that you want to do next.

Once you have figured that out, you need a simple resume format that will make its way through the Applicant Tracking System and will also make the case in just a few seconds that you are a viable candidate for the position. You have, on average, six to eleven SECONDS to make it apparent that you deserve a deeper look.
