Women In Sustainability Series, episode 2.\U0001f399

Introducing Christina Flach, the Founder and CEO of Pretty Girl MakeUp and Beauty Expert on NBC. Christina’s brand, Pretty Girl MakeUp, was founded in 1996 as she looked to create a better product for both herself, her clients, and customers.

She could never find a high quality lip gloss that would last after application throughout her busiest days. Every gloss she tried and was referred to would seemingly disappear within an hour of application or a sip of water. After trying a dozen products, Christina decided to fix the problem herself–and after a year of formulation, Pretty Girl MakeUp was born.

Christina wanted to do more than just create another lifestyle and cosmetic brand. Christina wanted her brand to resemble her beliefs. From the quality of the product, to how the product is made and even packaged, Christina created something for more than a lifestyle product–she challenged the cosmetics industry to do better.

From skin and eye products, many cosmetic brands use animal testing–something that has been condemned by many animal rights groups and consumers. As such, Christina wanted her brand to be different and take a stand against this. So all of her products at Pretty Girl Makeup are cruelty free.

What’s more, as Pretty Girl Makeup grows, Christina is developing new brands and products. With her business growth, she continues to look for ways to reduce waste in the packaging and postal of her products by using less material and biodegradable packaging.

This episode covers some interesting topics–from understanding more about her approach to health & lifestyle, living more sustainably, creating a brand and businesses with sustainable practices and goals, to also defining a ‘vegan’ cosmetic product!
