Ghost Fishing UK Joins us on Surface Interval 9, Econyl recycled clothing, 200km of London Underground full of fishing nets!

Published: June 16, 2020, 10 a.m.

We chat to Richard Walker, Chairman at Ghost Fishing UK, he tells us about the 640,000 tons of fishing gear lost every single year in our Seas and Oceans, how we can all help, from a simple reporting of fishing gear sightings via your phone to getting on board to pull up these horrible old nets to ultimately taking the training and diving down to remove them!
640,000 is the same as filling 200km of London Underground 3 times over every single year!
Unfortunately, these nets continue to do their job and trap and kill marine life, however another real positive is once these nets and ropes are removed they can be recycled into Econyl a fabric which can be used to make T-shirts, socks and all sorts of clothing
Fourth Element have a range of Econyl clothing!
