Marco L\xfcbbecke is a full professor and chair of operations research at Aachen University, Germany. He received his Ph.D. in applied mathematics in 2001 and was a member of the discrete and combinatorial optimization groups in Braunschweig, Berlin and Darmstadt before he moved to Aachen. Marco's research interests are in computational integer programming and discrete optimization, covering the entire spectrum from fundamental research and methods development to industry scale applications. A particular focus of his work is on decomposition approaches to exactly solving large-scale real-world optimization problems. He is an author of many papers published in prestigious journals such as Operations Research, Mathematical Programming and Management Scinece. Marco teaches more than 2000 students in more than 5 courses every year. He served on the INFORMS board as a VP for information strategy and recently co-founded (with Panos Pardalos) the Springer journal "Operations Research Forum." Marco is known to be on twitter.
