On Feb. 1, Myanmar’s military, announced that the commander-in-chief of the defense services would take on all executive, judicial and legislative powers. State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, and other officials were taken into custody. The country was virtually cut off. The US has called this a military coup. Rees explains what caused the Myanmar military to take control of the government and what happens next.
