The king opened his eyes and found himself seated at the long table in the castle\\u2019s dining hall. As he watched, platters and tureens began to appear, filled with steaming and fragrant food. Favorite dishes materialized before the chair in which would sit the one who favored them. A large bowl of fruit appeared before the seat that the queen\\u2019s favorite friend would occupy. Stews appeared at the far end of the table, where the king\\u2019s scholars sat. A tower of sweet rolls appeared in the middle of the table, where the young knights would be seated.

A king sits down to a feast only to feel that something is wrong, that he is alone though the table is full of feasters. Is it a dream? A nightmare? Or something worse\\u2026
