Rashida Coleman-Hale, fabric designer and author of Zakka Style and I Love Patchwork, did not, as it happens, start out loving patchwork or sewing of any kind. Only after begrudgingly sewing an outfit she wore once as a child, leaving fashion school, working odd jobs while drawing on the side, and becoming a mother did she become a devoted sewist.
