Creative Practice with Deborah Grayson, Artist

Published: Aug. 12, 2020, 3 p.m.

Lisa chats with Deborah Grayson, a visual artist who maintains an active studio practice in Washington DC. Deborah uses different types of media in her work to form magical and actual glimpses into the interior lives of Black women. These visual spaces show Black women as vulnerable, strong, fragile, bold, comfortable in our own skin, and free to express a full range of emotion. We talk about the relationships between art and craft, and consider the joys of sewing and other creative expressions.
