What started in 2016 as an online marketplace for bespoke Afro-inspired apparel and accessories, A House Called Hue has now become a custom patch-making company. It\u2019s run by Destiny Brewton who went from working on single-needle embroidery machines to several semi-commercial 10-needle machines. Today, Destiny shares how her sewing story began, how she made the leap from working on single needle to 10 needle machines, and how she knew it was time to move to multi-needle machines. She also explains what hoop sizes are as well as basic tips for a single needle embroidery machine, what her philosophy is when it comes to supporting and helping your peers, why the future of sewing machine repair is in the hands of Black women, and the wrong assumptions that men are better at tech and repair.
