Silver Threads and Golden Needles - Entertainment Icon and Author, Angela Ayers

Angela Ayers is an icon in the entertainment industry throughout Australia and New Zealand becoming the golden girl of NZ TV through her appearances with Peter Sinclair and Craig Scott in the musical TV shows\xa0Happen Inn\xa0and\xa0Sing\xa0in the 70\u2019s.\xa0 This led to her being voted\xa0\u201cNZ\u2019s Queen of Television\u201d and\xa0\u201cMost Popular Female Artist\u201d.

\n

Shortly after moving to Australia, she won the plum role of Maggie in\xa0A Chorus Line\xa0subsequently winning the only scholarship the New York Shakespearian Festival Trust had ever awarded to study Jazz/Ballet in Los Angeles.
A steady stream of significant roles in Musical Theatre kept her in Australia throughout the 80\u2019s including\xa0West Side Story, The Rocky Horror Show, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Cabaret, Chicago, Guys and Dolls\xa0and\xa0Jerry\u2019s Girls.

She appeared regularly on all National Variety TV Shows in Australia throughout the 90\u2019s such as\xa0The Don Lane Show, The Mike Walsh Show, Hey Hey It\u2019s Saturday\xa0and\xa0The Two Ronnie\u2019s\xa0Specials; as well as many TV programs in guest roles and in commercials.

\n

In 1998, she wrote her own one woman cabaret show entitled\xa0I Can Cook Too,\xa0performing with the legendary Jazz Pianist Ray Alldridge.

\n

In a career of many highlights, Angela rates one of them as singing the New Zealand National Anthem to over 90,000 people at the MCG Bledisloe Cup Match.

\n

She was a regular favourite entertainer in the 1980\u2019s and 1990\u2019s on Cruise ships and entertained troops in the Sinai with the late Ricky May.

\n

Returning to NZ she starred in musicals such as\xa042nd St, Jerry\u2019s Girls,\xa0and\xa0Mum\u2019s the Word.\xa0\xa0There were numerous television credits in\xa0Shortland Street, Spin Doctors\xa0and\xa0Menopause the Musical\xa0in both Australia and New Zealand.

Then in 2014, Angela played Miss Potts in\xa0Hairy Maclary\xa0at The Sydney Opera House.\xa0 Angela\u2019s cabaret show, \u2018I Can Cook Too\u2019 is in demand throughout Australia and is popular with the Senior Citizens Concerts.
Even more so, is her new show\xa0\u201cSimple Dreams\u201d\xa0the amazing songs of Linda Ronstadt.

Angela has recently launched her first children\u2019s book; a talent discovered during the COVID lockdown. 2 LITTLE KIWI BIRDS will be released in a series of 6 with an accompanying song.

\n

It is a charming, delightful book following the adventures of two kiwi birds, Les and Beryl, who travel from New Zealand across to Australia and settle here.
