For a\xa0moon\xa0rover to be as autonomous as possible, it requires the right technology to be built into it.\xa0 \xa0 On this\xa0week\u2019s episode of Space Connect Podcast, host Bella Richards chats to robotics expert Thierry Peynot, a professor leading a team at the Queensland University of Technology that has built a navigation and perception system that could be used for the Australian rover launching to the\xa0moon. \xa0 Thierry talks about the difficulty in creating a product that can withstand the\xa0moon\u2019s\xa0environment, how he is solving that with a facility that can imitate lunar-like conditions, and how science fiction was the catalyst for his robotics career. \xa0 Lastly, he speaks on why robotics is important, and how it can be improved\xa0upon\xa0in Australia for the benefit of the space industry.
