55 Episodes in, and we welcome Old City. Old City is a musical project based in New York City with the purpose of exploring and harmonizing cultural and emotional boundaries. Old City uses a unique mix of modern and traditional elements, drawing inspiration from the nostalgic instrumental sounds rooted in his Palestinian heritage to influences of soul, jazz, house and disco inspired by his travels. His musical identity stems from an ever-changing abstract overlay of the past onto the new, mixed with the driving percussion and electronic grooves inspired by the New York underground. This blend is the essence that creates a unique story in every performance and a euphoric experience that vibrate minds, bodies, and souls. Old City embodies the sense of tradition and “Majlis” in all of his performances, creating a space where hospitality, respect, and acceptance flow through the expression of free dance and human connection through music.
