The pandemic has created massive change in what American workers are looking for in a career. The number of workers quitting jobs vaulted to 4.5 million in November 2021, above the prior record of 4.4 million reached in September, according to the U.S. Labor Department. That means 3% of workers voluntarily left their positions.
The healthcare industry is facing these same challenges. Understanding the mindset of employees and the different needs and perspectives of those at various points in their careers can help a leader rethink their workplace models and retain talent. Is it critical to have everyone in the office eight to nine hours a day? How can a leader successfully engage his/her team if they are only on Zoom? If there\u2019s no opportunity for flexibility, will most staff leave? Do different age groups and disciplines have different thinking about this?
