Topic:
After I was a guest on the Scribble Talk Podcast earlier in the year, I had a lot of interest and questions around what I termed my ‘parallel’ careers – Bids and Art – and how I managed success in these pathways, amongst my other commitments.
I realized that I employ several key strategies to manage competing priorities and to keep balls moving across my employment as Head of Bids, my art career, the various committees I sit on (WIBAP, British Art Medal Society, Medal Artists of New Zealand), my personal / social life – oh and the house renovation!
Key strategies include: The Daily ‘Stand up’, the ‘flex and swing’ attitude, chunking time, quick wins, managing expectations, "the answer is yes, if".
I understand my own personal drivers - I am deadline driven and I have a ‘finisher’ mind set - I play to these.
It’s all about priority management, expectation management, understanding what level of input is required and when, to achieve personal and professional goals.

Short Description Previously Shared Regarding The Topic:
The act of balance, competing priorities, how to keep balls moving, with some key pointers of what works for me - the flex, chunking time, quick wins, 2 min tasks, managing expectations, "the answer is yes, if". I can bring it back to the demands of the job and the complex nature of the bids we work on in my sector, the quick turnaround, and the techniques I have put in place to manage those.
It's priority management, expectation management, understanding what input is required when to achieve personal and professional goals (there is definitely going to be a better way to coin that!).
