I was really resistant to the concept of “mindset blocks” until I found a way to connect with it more deeply.
I start off this episode talking about a definition of “mindset” that I’ve found more useful and why the difference between growth and fixed mindsets has been especially enlightening for me. I then talk through some of my own historical mindset blocks like wanting to be thought of as smart, avoiding challenges out of a fear of failure, and why effort is the only real path to mastery.
Toward the end of the episode I pivot and talk a bit about how I think some of these mindset blocks are related to our current culture of hyper-focus on the self, striving and success.
