Today, the Safari heads up to Storrs, CT, to visit the University of Connecticut. Ok, that's not exactly a zoo or even a conservation organization, but it IS home to Dr. Natalie Tocco (pronounced like taco), a veterinarian currently on her way to becoming a board-certified pathologist. What, exactly, is that, you ask? Well, you'd better listen to find out! But basically, Nat is the animal version of a medical examiner. She looks at dead animal bits (or the whole animal) to try to figure out exactly what happened to cause the death of the animal. Despite sounding kind of gross, this is actually incredibly cool, and also hugely relevant to both the zoo and conservation worlds this podcast likes to explore. Get ready to learn a lot about a subject you may not have even known exists!
