Rotorua battles community violence blamed on homelessness
Rotorua is planning to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on security cameras to try and curb problems with violence and anti-social behaviour, which are being blamed on rough sleepers. A crime statistics report released last year rated the Rotorua area worst among 66 regions. Rough sleepers are getting a lot of the blame for antisocial or violent behaviour, so are the so-called 501 deportees from Australia. Rotorua Lakes Mayor, Steve Chadwick joins Karyn to explain the problem.
