Ex-state caregiver accused of sexual assault takes stand at trial

A former state-approved caregiver accused of sexually abusing boys took the stand today to give evidence at his trial. Earl William Opetaia denies 26 charges relating to six teens, dating back to the early 2000s. His defence lawyers say the claims are fabricated and complainants invented them in the hope of being compensated for being abused in state care. Jean Bell reports from the High Court in Auckland.
