Ultraviolet Disinfection of Facemasks

The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the shortage of FFRs \u2013 Filtering Facepiece Respirators, also known as face masks - raised questions about UV surface disinfection for surfaces, which has not been well studied for effectiveness and is not regulated.

Castine Bernardy, a PhD candidate at the University of New Hampshire, set out to determine if UV is a practical technology for FFR disinfection, and add to the body of knowledge needed to create regulations for UV surface disinfection devices.
