On this episode we are discussing Blu & Exile's debut classic album "Below The Heavens"! This is Matt's favorite album and Brandon's first time really taking a closer look at this record. Blu dropped this album in 2007 and set the hiphop underground on fire. This record was a breath of fresh air and as we go deeper into the album throughout this episode we really get a sense of what Blu was trying to convey with this lyrics. Many of the songs are full of content dealing with coming up as a young adult and figuring out your place in the world and how you've been shaped by your upbringing. There's so many life lessons and cautionary tales in these songs, but the music is soulful and fun to listen to. Exile's production perfectly matches Blu's lyrically poignant raps and they truly are a rebirth of the old school rapper/dj group of the 90s.
