You may know him as the Hall of Fame coach of Michigan State\u2019s men\u2019s basketball team, but did you know Tom Izzo\u2019s very first coaching job out of college was at a High School in Michigan? Did you know that his coaching tree includes Tom Crean of Georgia and Jim Boylen of the Chicago Bulls?\n\nHere are several isolated responses from an in-person conversation I had with Coach Tom Izzo, in Las Vegas at the USA Basketball Fantasy Camp \u2013 back when I was the host of the Pure Sweat Basketball Show. We discussed the difference between being a great player and a great winner, why a player led team will always outperform a coach led team in the long run and why the coaching community needs to spend more time invested in self-development.
