we are back…with one of the most important tributes… to the founding fathers of funk, The Meters. They created a unique sound blending funk, blues with a New Orleans Cajun vibe. Their history dates back to 1965, when keyboardist Art Neville recruited bassist George Porter Jr., drummer Joseph 'Zigaboo' Modeliste and guitarist Leo Nocentelli to form The Meters. They became the house band for Allen Toussaint label, Sansu Enterprises. In ‘69 they released "Sophisticated Cissy" and "Cissy Strut", both major R&B chart hits. After twelve years and ten studio albums, they disbanded in ‘79…but continued to perform in the next decades with different line ups.

I will dig wider in their portfolio…besides their songs, I will present their side projects, collaborations, cover-ups by other bands and some Meters inspired jams. So ease back, get your gumbo in order and enjoy the funk….
