Are you operating like a Manager or a Leader?

Not sure if you know this part of my entrepreneurial journey, 4.5 years into running my business full-time, I still couldn\u2019t grow it past 350-400K/year. Yes I\u2019m aware that is still a great amount of revenue, but the business wasn\u2019t growing and I felt stuck.

I worked harder, longer, frantically Goggled all the things, and my business still wouldn\u2019t grow. I was so tried, fried, and sick of it that I finally hired a business coach to help me figure out what I was doing wrong. Yes it took me that long to ask for help!!! (not recommended)

One of the life-changing moments is when my coach pointed out to me that I was operating like a Manager inside my business (and life) and not a leader.

Truthfully, I didn\u2019t even really grasp the difference, but slowly the light bulb turned on.

A Manager focuses on putting out fires, tending to employee\u2019s and contractor\u2019s needs, checking in on projects, reviewing and correcting everyone\u2019s work, basically getting into the weeds of it all.

A Leader focuses on the mission and vision of the company, while creatively coming up with new products and services to meet the needs of their customers. Allowing other people to deal with weeds and the rest of the garden, while I map out the overall landscaping. (you knew I couldn\u2019t resist that analogy)

Being a Manager was familiar to me, as that was my role in the corporate world, I had never been shown how to be a Leader, let alone thinking little \u2018ole me could be one.

The difference between building a 6-figure business and a 7 or 8-figure business, is becoming a Leader, and feeling you have the right to be in that position.
