THE ROAD HOME, A POEM BY ABDULSALAM ADEIZA SADIQ

The road home is long and it runs and runs
\nacross busy towns and lonely villages,
\nthrough express routes, flyovers and
\nwhite chalk lines drawn on asphalt,
\nthrough bumps and gallops and potholes
\nthe size of a small pond and through smoke
\nfrom the exhaust of heavy-duty lorries
\nwith witty slogans painted on their bodies.
