Own It! 183 | Building A Community: Why, How And Where

Published: June 1, 2018, 6:33 a.m.

Contemplating building a community for your clients and prospective clients? Why do that, and how and where?

In the Show

Nicola Cairncross and Judith Morgan are challenged respectively by the lack of broadband (needing a new router to keep up with superfast) and the bank, specifically their all too frequent over-sensitive and erroneous fraud alerts.

What’s Fuelled Their Fire?

Nicola has been running her own biz through the strategy she learned in Playing to Win and talking JVs with various prospects. Judith reflects on GDPR, and some sessions with interesting clients she’s helping to do fascinating things, one business/property option deal in particular.

Focus of the Week

Both Judith and Nicola love creating communities and discuss the why, how and where of doing that online. They share their thoughts about broadcasting -v- engagement, recommend two books, compare online forums to Facebook groups, how to set up rules, how to get people to join and stay, working out who it’s for, leading your community and filling it with interesting engaging content until such time as it takes off and the members play nicely amongst themselves.

Words of the Week

Judith picks Language and Nicola chooses Strategy.

Project Updates

Judith’s book sales, Nicola’s new Masterclass and working her way up to another 30 Day Challenge starting on Monday 4 June.

Who or What’s Impressed?

The Royal Wedding, the British fashion industry being bigger than its car industry. Katherine’s cross stitch Etsy shop, and The Split family drama on BBC1.
