b'Let\\u2019s just say it: Arcade Fire is weird\\u2026just about everything they\\u2019ve done in their career has been not only unconventional but against the rules\\u2026\\n\\nThey rarely give interviews\\u2026they won\\u2019t license their music\\u2026they\\u2019d rather spend weeks working with the people of Haiti than lounging by a swimming pool somewhere\\u2026they won\\u2019t even stay on the stage when they perform\\u2026\\n\\nYet whatever they\\u2019ve done has worked\\u2026junos, Grammy\\u2019s, Brits, The Polaris Music Prize\\u2026members have had their work nominated for an academy award\\u2026humanitarian awards\\u2026\\n\\nCritics have fallen all over them for years\\u2026they\\u2019ve made all the important magazine covers\\u2026big name stars all the way up to Chris Martin and U2 and David Bowie have lavished praise on them\\u2026and they\\u2019re one of the few new rock bands to emerge in the 21st century that is capable of selling out an arena\\u2026\\n\\nOkay, so they haven\\u2019t sold a gazillion records, but who has these days?...still, they\\u2019ve moved several million, which is very respectable\\u2026and all those records were made for a small indie label, not a major\\u2026\\n\\nOh\\u2014get this: a chunk of the money they\\u2019ve big made\\u2014a million-dollar chunk\\u2014was donated to a Haitian relief organization\\u2026\\n\\nThere are no reports of legal issues, tabloid scandals, drunken antics, drug use or any kind of anti-social behavior\\u2014unless you count it when singer Win Butler gets into foul trouble when he\\u2019s playing in a celebrity basketball game\\u2026\\n\\nAll of this is very good\\u2026but in the context of rock\\u2019n\\u2019roll, it\\u2019s very weird\\u2026\\n\\n[off mic] how am I supposed to come up with all kinds of juicy bits when there\\u2019s nothing at all salacious about these people?...do my best?...what\\u2019s that\\u2019s supposed to mean?...thanks a lot\\u2026\\n\\nAll right\\u2026let\\u2019s see what I can do\\u2026this is who the hell is Arcade Fire, part 2\\u2026\\nLearn more about your ad choices.
