b'I\\u2019m really bad with jargon\\u2026I hate it\\u2026jargon is by its very nature exclusive\\u2026if you don\\u2019t know the language, don\\u2019t know the codes, don\\u2019t know the usage rules, then you\\u2019re locked out of the discussion\\u2026\\n\\nI remember one financial guy who wanted to talk to me about a retirement savings plan\\u2026and his schpiel went something like this:\\n\\n\\u201cWhen it comes to diversification of your asset classes, consider taking out some warrants on pink sheet stocks on the vix, backing them up with shorts on fang stocks for a few months before rebalancing your portfolio through dollar-cost averaging\\u201d\\u2026I have no idea what I just said\\u2026\\n\\nNow let\\u2019s switch to music\\u2026if you do any exploring of how the music business works, you inevitably run into words that seem important, but you don\\u2019t know what they mean\\u2026you could ask, but then it might show that you\\u2019re, err, lacking in knowledge\\u2026\\n\\n\\u201cNewbie!...ignoramus!...rookie!\\u201d\\u2026no one wants that, so you just keep it to yourself\\u2026no one wants to be made fun of\\u2026and if someone does deign to explain things to you, there\\u2019s always the risk that they\\u2019ll be condescending\\u2026so you say to yourself \\u201cI\\u2019ll figure it out\\u2026eventually\\u2026I hope\\u201d\\u2026\\n\\nBut that\\u2019s not right\\u2026music should be for everyone\\u2026if you\\u2019re interested in how things work with the recorded music industry, your curiosity should be rewarded\\u2026and that\\u2019s what we\\u2019re going to do right now\\u2026this is an audio glossary of music industry terms\\u2026and once we\\u2019re done, you\\u2019ll be able to converse with the best of them\\u2026\\nLearn more about your ad choices.
