35th Anniversary: MOMMIE DEAREST

Published: March 31, 2016, 4 p.m.

Released on September 18, 1981, Mommie Dearest was a hit with audiences right out of the gate and has only grown in adoration and stature over the passing years.  Marked by an infectiously over-the-top performance by Faye Dunaway as screen icon Joan Crawford, Mommie Dearest stands as one of the most beloved and joyous camp films of the past four decades. The Movie Geeks observe the 35th anniversary of this deliriously entertaining and popular cult classic with one of its co-stars -  Rutanya Alda (The Deer Hunter, The Long Goodbye) - whose recent book The Mommie Dearest Diaries: Carol Ann Tells All - details her colorful experiences working on the film.  Ms. Alda will be in attendance for a special screening of the film at the Sarasota Film Festival on Wednesday, April 6. Tickets are now available at  http://www.sarasotafilmfestival.com/.
