By the end of the 2030s, the depressions and panics from the destabilization of the climate drove the majority of people to seek tribal acceptance in the metaverse. People began to develop their meta character and social status by acquiring and displaying digital art, fashion, real estate, and anything else that made a statement to their tribe.

While this contributed significantly to dramatic declines in textile waste and greenhouse gas emissions from manufacturing and transportation, the rapid transition into the metaverse brought the retail goods industry to a halt and devastated global economies.

Because your governments squandered the potential of cryptocurrencies, your society will be unable to fully transition to the blockchain economy. Instead of utilizing this new multi-trillion-dollar asset class poised and ready to unite in the fight for the future of the world, your politicians continued to point fingers and close borders, destroying any hope for global cooperation.
