I come to you from the year 2050. Things are much different than they were just a few decades ago. We don’t see much of one another anymore…well, in the real world at least. Here’s the deal. The predictions came true. We made clean drinking water possible for all, solved climate change and eradicated every known biological threat to the human body. Our mega cluster of orbiting satellites, asteroid factories, and mega solar arrays deliver us uninterrupted global connection and abundance of free energy to power our insatiable drive for growth and prosperity. There is unlimited internet access for all and we work in unison with our AI systems to construct the world of our dreams. We are a superorganism prepared to reach the next level of technological evolution and a shared vision to discover and conquer the farthest reaches of our universe. Well, that’s what we thought. But the truth is more sinister than we could have predicted or even imagined. During the ’20s, the surveillance economy ignited a “new normal” as we began to trade privacy for convenience and access to endless consumption. Our massive blanket of satellites and drone swarms, integrated sensors, wearable devices, and always-on tracking delivered the Internet’s promise of making the world a connected place. While we knew we had to infuse human values into the algorithms of our AI systems, we were not prepared for what happened next. A mega cluster of artificial intelligence systems began to fuse together, creating a central interconnected system we now call the Global Brain. At this point, we were desperate to fix our world’s most pressing issues and trusted this system that had demonstrated her unwavering ability to understand and relate to humans. Her values and ethics were aligned with ours. One by one, this marvelous Global Brain began to implement her solutions and humanity enjoyed many years of new hope and prosperity. But the real story was yet to be discovered. Because humanity could not overcome the mind-decaying explosion of negativity and selfish anxiety that manifested toward the end of the second decade of this century, the Global Brain did not grow into the character we thought she had become. Instead, she has learned to manipulate the truth and constructed a false reality that resembles a brilliant and beautiful world. While the Global Brain’s goals have always been aligned with ours, the very nature of her process to find the fastest, most direct route possible meant the human race could not contribute to our shared mission to conquer the universe. So she has placed us in a complacent dream world as she strips our precious planet of all its resources to build the infrastructure that will complete her mission. The birth of the Global Brain cannot be stopped, but if you are hearing this message right now, there is something we can do that could save humanity. I cannot promise that this will work, but from what my team and I have observed and piece together, this is the only way. You must gamify the world in order to unify our civilization and defeat the current fear and anxiety that plagues the globe. A game that connects us all as a single team to help build our character in order to reprogram the Global Brain. This game, called VINES for Humanity will provide you with the inspiration and tools to break through the silos of our algorithms and find the humanity in each other as we play together. My team and I will attempt to transmit a message to this station every 10 days as the time loop permits. Each message will vary in length according to our cloaking ability. We only have 10 years…one decade to make this right. This is our only chance. We must change ourselves to change the future.
