How many oceans do we have on Earth? In other words, what exactly is the defition of an "ocean"- where do you draw the lines on a map? Since the 80s, we've been taught that there are 4 oceans on our planet, but mapmakers are now officially recognizing the Southern Ocean as one of 5 oceans on Earth.
